CYD Team (New for 2026)

This pathway is designed for dancers who are ready to train, perform, and represent the school at the highest level.

From 2026, we are introducing the CYD Team, an exciting new opportunity for selected students to perform and compete as part of a dedicated team at the CYD Super Convention and beyond.

What is CYD?

CYD? (Can You Dance?) is one of the UK’s leading dance conventions, designed to inspire and develop young dancers of all abilities. Events bring together industry professionals from across the dance world to deliver high-quality workshops in a variety of styles, including commercial, contemporary and jazz. Dancers have the opportunity to train in a professional environment, build confidence, learn new skills and experience the energy of a large-scale dance event. CYD also offers performance and audition opportunities, making it a fantastic experience for students looking to challenge themselves and grow as performers.

What is the CYD Team?

The CYD Team is an invite-only group of dancers selected from our Competition Team, created for those demonstrating exceptional commitment, work ethic, and training consistency.

Students will be placed into Junior and Senior teams, working together towards high-level performance opportunities.

2026 Opportunity

In 2026, selected dancers will:

Train as part of the CYD Team
Perform at the CYD Super Convention 2026
Gain experience working towards a professional standard performance

Looking Ahead to 2027

The CYD Team will continue into 2027, where dancers will:

Compete at the CYD Regional Finals
Work towards qualification for the CYD Finals

A new CYD Team will be selected each year, creating an ongoing opportunity for future dancers.

Commitment & Expectations

The CYD Team is designed for dancers training at the highest level within the school.

To be considered, students are expected to demonstrate a high level of commitment across all areas of their training, including::

Ballet
Tap
Jazz
Open Jazz
Fun Friday

Additional rehearsals and performance preparation will also be required.

Selection

Selection is by invitation only and based on:

Commitment to training
Progress and potential
Attitude and work ethic

The CYD Team offers a unique opportunity for dedicated dancers to take their training to the next level and experience both performance and competition at a higher standard.
